Bhutan holds many surprises and offers immense opportunities for photography especially outdoor.
Bhutan is one of the most unique photographic experiences in the World. Bhutan people are generally open-minded about photography by tourists. There are as such no restrictions on photographing people, places etc. Bhutan’s landscape, buildings, people, festivals and cultures are some of the most photogenic in the world.
But photography strictly prohibited inside Dzongs , Goembas, Lakhangs, some government offices, military places, tower etc. There are a few places where have photography prohibiting signs. Some religious institutions as in some area photographing is not permitted. However, you can take picture outside of Dzongs and Goembas. If you are uncertain, please check with your travel guide before taking pictures or filming inside dzongs, goembas, temples, monasteries. While photographic Bhutan local people, it is always better to take permission first.
You are free to capture images of the remarkable landscape, specular trekking trails, panoramic mountain ranges, rural life, stunning flora and fauna, distinctive Bhutanese architecture and the exterior of Dzongs and Chortens in particular.
